8. If you can’t afford it, don’t buy it
Dec 09, 2019
If you can’t pay cash for it, you can’t afford it. That’s all there is to it. It really is that simple.
Our problem is we have been taught to use plastic from such an early age that we don’t even realize what we have become super consumers. We just consume and consume and consume with no thought of the consequences and no real thought as to whether we can afford things or not.
From now on, if you want to buy something and think “I really need it,” then give yourself 30 days (mark it on your calendar) and if you still can’t live without out it, you can buy it if you can pay cash. That’s right, from now on, if you can’t pay cash for something then you can’t afford it.
Another good thing to do, not only for security but to avoid overspending, is to remove all your credit card numbers that you have stored on internet accounts like Amazon, Paypal, and other favorite stores. Remove the ease of which you can spend too quickly. Poof! It’s gone.
